Family Legal Protection Policy Summary
Statement
This is only a summary of the policy. The full terms and conditions of the cover can be found in the policy document. It is important that you read the policy document carefully when you receive it.
Name of the insurance undertaking
The Insurer of this policy is RAC Insurance Limited, 1 Forest Road. Feltham, TW13 7RR.
Type of insurance and cover Legal protection for the family.
Cover for legal expenses up to £50,000 per claim, in pursuit or defence of civil, tribunal or arbitration proceedings or appeals arising from them.
Significant features and benefits
Cover for legal expenses incurred in pursuing or defending claims arising from:
- death or personal injury (except when you were driving a motor vehicle);
- purchase or hire of goods;
- infringement of proprietary rights;
- disputes with employers (excluding all types of discrimination disputes or claims);
- disputes over contracts.
Significant or unusual exclusions or limitations
- An excess of £30 applies to each claim
- Legal expenses:
- that we have not agreed to in writing; or
- which are higher than we have agreed; or
- which were incurred before we have written to confirm acceptance of the claim; or
- where there is no reasonable prospect of success.
- Any legal proceedings between members of your family. This does not apply to accidents involving motor vehicles
Period of Insurance
The length of time covered is shown in the Schedule and is only
for twelve continuous months.
Cancellation
Within 14 days of receipt of the policy documentation you can decide
not to continue with the policy. You must write to us to confirm
this. We will charge for the time you have been on cover.
Claims
You must report immediately to RAC, any accident or incident that
may give rise to a claim under the policy, on 0870 3339846.

If you wish to make a complaint please contact the Administrator

1000 Lakeside North Harbour, Western Road, Portsmouth PO6 3EN.
If you remain dissatisfied with BDML Connect Limited’s response
you may write to RAC.
If you are still dissatisfied then you can refer the matter to the
Financial Ombudsman South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14

Financial Services Compensation Scheme
We are members of the Financial Services
Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If we were unable to meet our obligations
you might be entitled to compensation from the scheme, depending
on the type of insurance and circumstances of any claim. The first
£2,000 of a claim or policy is protected in full and above
this threshold 90% of the rest of the claim can be met. Further
