Car insurance advice for young motorists
Posted :05-07-2005
Young drivers have been urged to take note of the advice given to them on how they can minimise the cost of their car insurance, with savings on offer for prudent buyers. According to recent Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures, the number of young male motorist is declining, with 34 per cent of 17 to 20-year-old males holding a valid drivers' licence, compared to 54 per cent in 1994. One reason for this could be the high car insurance premiums that face young drivers, who are viewed by insurers as a high-risk group. Specialist insurance provider QuoteA.co.uk has highlighted a number of steps which young motorists should take when seeking car insurance to minimise costs. Young drivers are urged to be cautious and to make sacrifices to potentially save hundreds of pounds on their insurance. They are advised not to be put on their parents' car insurance policies and to concentrate on getting their own high No Claims Bonus, which will lead to future savings. Taking a Pass Plus training scheme and checking the insurance band of a car before purchasing it could also keep insurance costs down. Motorists are also advised to compare online insurance. According to recent research, drivers can save an average of £52.26 by acquiring seven different motor insurance quotes, opposed to just one.
