Car insurance needed for celebrity road-trip
Posted :15-09-2005
Six celebrity drivers will certainly be in need of cheaper motor insurance after they drive from Land's End to John O'Groats for a reality TV programme. A specialist breakdown service has already been arranged to accompany the drivers, who have been nominated by friends and family due to their "dreadful" driving abilities. The drivers will have to handle several different types of vehicles for the challenge to find Britain's Worst Celebrity Driver, from Reliant Robins to a 1936 SS Jaguar. Celebrities up for the challenge include actor Brian Blessed, ex-Hear'Say star Suzanne Shaw, and Blue Peter veteran John Noakes. All of the celebrities will be ensuring they have adequate car insurance on the 986-mile trip, although they will be followed by car-breakdown service Green Flag. The drivers are confident, however Green Flag spokesman Nigel Charlesworth admits: "With a wide variety of vehicles and a group of celebrities who willingly admit their driving skills are far from perfect, anything could happen."
