Car insurance necessary for Brits abroad
Posted :19-04-2006
It seems car insurance is particularly necessary for Brits who are driving abroad, according to a new survey. This is because more than half of Brits (59 per cent) have driven abroad in Europe without making the necessary safety precautions for doing so, according to a study by Saga Motor Insurance. A worrying 14 per cent of us do not remember to take our insurance documents with us, despite travelling without valid insurance papers being illegal in many European countries. Brits driving abroad also seem to run into a host of problems with 24 per cent finding driving on the wrong side of the road irritating and 37 per cent admitting they find foreign road signs very difficult to master. Andrew Goodsell, Saga chief executive, said: "To limit the chances of getting into difficulty, people should plan their route before they leave and ask their passengers to navigate. "Driving licences and insurance documents are compulsory for driving abroad and should be the first thing you pack."
