Car insurance premiums rising
Posted :20-04-2006
Higher premiums are encouraging more people to shop around for car insurance, according to a new report. Consumer watchdog Which? found growing numbers of uninsured drivers and the 'no-win, no-fee' claim culture are making more drivers look around for the best deal. Which? also found in its survey of 41 different insurance companies and 6,450 premiums that newer names in the car market were offering some of the best deals around. Malcolm Tarling, spokesman for the Association of British Insurers (ABI), told Reuters that insurers were continually looking at ways to tailor premiums to individual risk and to keep the cost of car insurance in check. He said that drivers could help take advantage of this by shopping around for the best car insurance deals. He also gave some tips for younger drivers, saying: "It may come as a surprise but most accidents in the younger age groups come about as a result of inexperience rather than bravado. "Developing better driver technique and gaining experience on motorways through a course is a good way of lowering premiums and accelerating a no claims bonus record."
