UK gets eco-friend car insurance

The UK's only insurance co-operative has launched the country's first eco-motor insurance.

Coming in response to a rising demand from the public for environmentally sound services, the new insurance deal from Co-operative Insurance (CIS) ensures that every step of the claims process is eco-friendly.

Including a discount for greener cars, the policy also ensures that 20 per cent of CO2 emissions are counteracted for every vehicle insured under the policy through CIS, at no cost to the client.

David Neave, CIS' director of general insurance, said: "Whilst many people accept that motoring is a necessary means of transport many motorists now recognise the environmental impact driving a car has on climate change.

"This product doesn't just help to offset the carbon emissions at the outset, it contributes to the management of the environmental impact throughout the entire journey."

Lately there has been a trend amongst the UK public for greener products and services.

Recently More Than car insurance became the first insurance provider to offer a lower premium for the drivers of hybrid cars.
