Tourist driver facilities 'puts motorists off'
Posted :20-07-2006
The poor provisions for drivers at many of the country's top tourist attractions put the UK's motorists off from visiting, according to a recent poll. Although half of the drivers surveyed by Green Flag said they would travel over 70 miles to visit a tourist attraction, 69 per cent said they would avoid such places if they could not find a place to park nearby. Others said they would not visit features in areas of congestion and traffic jams, which can be a source of accidents and subsequent car insurance claims. Green Flag spokesperson, Phillipa Naylor, stated: "It's a good idea to check your destination for parking facilities before you plan your trip to make sure you don't arrive and find there is little or expensive parking and check for traffic news before setting off so you dont get stuck in any traffic jams and ruin your fun day out." "Also remember to check the oil, water and tyre pressure before your journey to prevent any motoring mishaps which could have been avoided," she concluded. Checking the status of a vehicle before embarking on a trip could cause fewer accidents often resulting in car insurance claims, as well as making sure the car remains in good condition.
