Brits urged to shop around for car insurance

Motorist in the UK have been urged to shop around for the best car insurance cover, especially with the upcoming bank holiday giving motorists one last chance for a summer driving holiday.
Price comparison website Moneysupermarket has said that by comparing quotes online drivers could save up to 76 per cent on a comprehensive cover policy - that also includes breakdown cover.
Breaking down abroad or needing recovery on a bank holiday could prove to a problem for those motorists who have not checked their car insurance policies before setting off for the weekend.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at, Moneysupermarket, said: "The bank holiday is always a busy time on Britain's roads resulting in an increase in car breakdowns.
"It is important to choose not only the most competitive policy, but one which is comprehensive enough for your needs."
He went on to say that motorists planning a trip across the channel this bank holiday should check to see if they will be protected while driving abroad.
A recent survey by Travelodge revealed that 21 per cent of those hitting the roads for the weekend expect to spend more than five hours behind the wheel.
