Company offers customised car insurance policies
Posted :05-10-2006
Mechanical breakdown insurer Warranty Direct has launched new car insurance policies that are tailored to motorists' current circumstances.
The firm says that its new system of calculating insurance is more beneficial than traditional "one size fits all" policies, as an average of 200,000 car warranties expire every month.
According to its research, one in three cars experience mechanical breakdown every year and the average cost of repair is £400. Therefore, the new system takes into account whether the vehicle has the existing manufacturer's warranty in place or not.
The insurance quote will also depend on whether the car was bought privately, at auction or from a dealer. The new owner can then inform the insurer of the warranty circumstances and choose to add extra cover if necessary.
Meanwhile, new research from the British Car Association has found that the average price of a nearly-new car increased for the second quarter running this year and is now £15,280.
