Motorists warned as clocks go back
Posted :30-10-2006
Motorists in the UK are being advised to take extra care as the nights get darker following the end of British Summer Time.
Lloyds TSB Insurance has predicted that motor insurance claims could rise by 20 per cent after the clocks went back by an hour this weekend.
During the end of October and November last year, Lloyds TSB car insurance claims increased by 18 per cent. Consequently, the company believes that this year will see a larger rise in the number affected by the change in conditions.
"Even though the clocks go back every year, drivers still seem to be ill-prepared," said Phil Loney, managing director at Lloyds TSB Insurance.
"Many are not ready to face the hazards of dark winter evenings and risk minor accidents - or worse - as a result."
In addition to car insurance, Lloyds TSB also offers a range of pet, travel and home insurance policies.
