Drivers advised when to claim on car insurance
Posted :27-11-2006
Motorists should exercise judgement when making car insurance claims, according to car insurance industry provider. Norwich Union spokesperson David Ross explains that smaller car insurance claims might not be worth breaking a no-claims bonus for, but recommends that larger claims should always be acted upon. "If someone climbs over your car and causes you to have to get a new body shell and paint job that costs £4,500, and your premiums are £250 to £300, then it makes financial sense to submit a claim," explains Mr Ross. "If on the other hand someone has taken off your wing mirror and it is £5 to replace then don't claim. This is generally how it works." Recent reports from Direct Line reveal that vandalism is a growing problem for UK motorists, having cost a total of £563 million in damage last year. However it was also found that over half of all victims do not report the damage so as to avoid hassle.
