Hull named as "riskiest" city for car theft
Posted :05-12-2006
The north-east city of Hull has been labelled the "riskiest" city for car theft, followed by Bradford and Leeds.
According to new research from Endsleigh Insurance, the three cities ranked at the top for stolen cars, while Norwich, Solihull and Swindon are considered to be the safest.
However, the findings also revealed that car insurance claims for theft have fallen by 31 per cent in the last three years, leading Endsleigh to believe that vehicle theft is decreasing across the country.
"Car security has significantly contributed to this drop in theft," remarked Tim Larden, a spokesperson for Endsleigh.
Mr Larden underlined measures that all motorists should take, however, to prevent the chances of them becoming a victim of car theft.
"Close all the windows, remove easy-to-steal items and never leave valuables such as satellite navigation systems, laptops and handbags on display."
Any kind of car insurance claim can potentially cause a motorist's premiums to increase, in addition to erasing their no-claims bonus.
