RAC reveals "unusual" call-outs
Posted :08-01-2007
Badgers, snakes and squirrels have all been blamed for car breakdowns, as the RAC has revealed its list of top ten "unusual" reasons given by motorists.
One driver who heard a "strange noise" coming from his engine called the RAC who then found a "grumpy badger" between the car body and the exhaust.
And a pet snake managed to cause a breakdown by getting stuck under a car dashboard, which the patrol then had to dismantle in order to free the reptile.
A vengeful squirrel was the culprit for one motorist's engine troubles, after the rodent hid his nuts in the car's exhaust pipe.
However, while a number of problems may cause a car to breakdown and the driver subsequently to make a car insurance claim, a breakdown assistance group such as the RAC may be helpful in getting a vehicle back on the road.
If a car breaks down, the Highway Code advises drivers to try and get the vehicle off the road or use hazard warning lights if this is not possible.
