Drivers offered foreign road guidance
Posted :12-04-2007
A new online service has been introduced offering motorist advice on driving abroad, it has been revealed.
British Airways (BA) has teamed up with car rental firm Avis to offer UK drivers advice on foreign road signs and motoring conditions.
As well as offering advice on driving regulations specific to certain countries, the new guide contains sections on road etiquette and speed limits.
There is advice available on a total of 16 European countries as well as entries for America, Australia and New Zealand.
"By offering the guides on the Avis/BA website, we can help drivers research their own information on the destination they are visiting," said commercial director at Avis Daniel McCarthy.
Meanwhile, car insurance provider Saga recently suggested that Britons should take measures to prepare for driving abroad.
As well as securing adequate motor cover, the firm suggested that drivers have plenty of change available for European toll roads and take time to check the condition of tyres and headlights before leaving the UK.
