"Nine lives" of homeowner identified by A&L
Posted :23-04-2007
The traditional nuclear family may be no longer, Alliance & Leicester (A&L) has claimed, after research from the group identified the nine stages of homeowning now existent in society.
And the findings - which may remind people who are looking to switch or update their home insurance policies - suggested that by 2026, the first four stages of habiting could include living with parents, living with fellow students, being a "living loner" and co-habiting with a partner.
These are followed by setting up a family home - which could precede being divorced or separated and living alone again - then living with the demands of both elderly parents and children who have not left home.
Finally, empty nesters and lone widows were found to be the last two homeowner "lives", the financial service provider announced.
Meanwhile, an insurer today announced it was planning to offer financial incentives to customers who enable their home with energy-saving measures.
More Than said it intends to apply the incentives to home insurance policies taken out by its customers.
