Drivers urged to take car insurance policy abroad
Posted :25-06-2007
Britons about to embark on a fly-drive holiday are being advised to take their car insurance documents with them in addition to making adequate preparations before the trip.
According to Mondial UK, drivers should check whether their car insurance covers them while behind the wheel in a foreign country and also ensure they have suitable breakdown cover in case of emergency.
The insurance and assistance group is also urging motorists to make sure they have an international driving permit if necessary - as some countries require this and others do not.
"It only takes a little effort to prepare for the worst," advised Simon Cook, Mondial UK's automotive director.
"Providing you have your motor assistance policy as well as your motoring documents, help is just a telephone call away," he added.
Driving on the left is standard in the UK, although this is different from the rest of Europe and North America, where motorists are required to keep to the right side of the road.
