Foreign convictions 'could affect car insurance'
Posted :09-07-2007
Those who have been convicted of motoring offences abroad could find their UK car insurance policies are affected, it was claimed today.
Legal expense insurance firm DAS said that it was now easier for companies to exchange information throughout Europe and enable greater transparency into drivers' records.
This, it suggested, could affect car insurance policies back home and lead to complications should a motorist be charged with an offence - such as speeding or drink-driving - while in another country.
Meanwhile, those who are looking for a new car insurance deal may be interested to hear that good deals can be found on the market despite suggestions of rising premiums.
Ian Crowder, public relations manager for the AA, recently commented: "There is always a provider willing to offer low premiums to get your business."
