'Consider breakdown cover with car insurance'
Posted :10-07-2007
While a number of factors go into choosing the right car insurance, whether the policy includes breakdown cover may be a worthwhile consideration for many drivers.
This, notes the Guardian, can vary with each motor insurance provider, as some will cover the vehicle itself but others provide assistance for the person, meaning they can use their policy even when in a friend's car.
It may be that the insurer can provide a discount if the breakdown clause is not included in the main policy.
In addition, breakdown cover - which could be valuable on long summer holiday journeys - may vary in price depending on the cost of the driver's car insurance premiums.
"It's an idea for people to write down what their needs are and what they want from the cover before they start looking, because there is a lot of choice out there," Colin McFarlin from Europ Assistance told the newspaper.
Drivers may also find they can effectively compare quotes by looking online for the best deals.
