Eco car insurance 'helps until there's a solution'
Posted :11-07-2007
Greener car insurance policies and those which offset carbon emissions can help to combat climate change until there is a better way to travel, it was suggested this week.
David Douglas, spokesperson for car insurance provider Environmental Transport Association (ETA), said that while it is preferable for people to cycle or use public transport, it understands that some people have no other option than to drive.
Indeed, eco car insurance can help these people to reduce their carbon footprint until more options become available, he added.
"At this interim stage we will be the support to help people drive less and drive greener," Mr Douglas.
He also explained how ETA fulfils its promise to offset emissions and ensure carbon neutrality, while it also helps customers motorists "clean up their driving" and work to offset their vehicle's footprint.
Recent months have seen a number of car insurance companies begin to offer green policies, including More Than and Co-operative Insurance.
