Drivers advised on cheaper holiday fuel
Posted :11-07-2007
UK motorists thinking of travelling through Europe on their summer holidays may be interested to know that Switzerland offers petrol at the continent's cheapest price, Post Office has claimed.
While drivers may also want to check that their car insurance covers them for overseas journeys, those getting behind the wheel could benefit from budgeting their trip and filling up with fuel in cheaper countries.
Post Office found that Swiss prices come in at 75p per litre, while a tank of unleaded in Spain is likely to cost 78p per litre - some 24p cheaper than in the Netherlands.
"We advise UK holidaymakers to plan their motoring itineraries carefully in advance," said Post Office's head of travel services Kevin McAdam.
In addition to checking their car insurance policies, motorists may also benefit from getting adequate breakdown cover before they set off.
