Demand for green car insurance 'booming'

The demand for green car insurance policies has climbed among consumers as climate change becomes higher on the political agenda, the spokesman for a provider has claimed.

Representing the Environmental Transport Association, David Douglas said that while the demand for eco car insurance products has remained steady throughout the past 15 years, it is now growing quickly as consumers become more knowledgeable on the subject.

"It's definitely a growth industry and I think it will continue to grow," remarked Mr Douglas, who added that climate change is now in the "public consciousness" and is consequently receiving more attention.

However, he also explained that as customer awareness on the subject increases, so does their ability to see through products which are genuinely green and those which "put a green gloss on things".
