Post codes 'definitely affect car insurance'
Posted :01-08-2007
The area where one lives could drastically affect their car insurance premiums, according to recent research from the AA.
Those living in inner-city neighbourhoods may pay as much as three times as much as those who live in suburbs or in the country, AA stated.
However, age and sex continue to be the most important factors in determining what one's car insurance will be.
Ian Crowder, a spokesman for AA, said: "Post codes certainly make a difference to premium costs.
"There are ways of bringing your insurance premiums down. If you're a young driver you can take the Pass Plus qualification which could get anything up to 35 per cent off the first year of your insurance premium."
Young men will pay almost twice as much on their insurance premiums as young women, because statistics show that they are much more likely to get in a "catastrophic accident", added Mr Crowder.
He also stated that though insurance rates have gone up lately, bargain car insurance premiums are still possible to come by.
