'Get car insurance for driving abroad'
Posted :08-08-2007
Taking out car insurance to cover driving abroad is "valuable" and could prevent a costly payout should an accident occur, it has been claimed.
RAC spokesperson Adam Cracknell said it is worth checking car insurance policies before departing on a holiday, as some cover will already include international driving but others may not.
And in addition to providing reassurance should one's own vehicle incur damage, it can also be useful if another car is involved, he continued.
Mr Cracknell explained that not only could this cause "very high costs", any injuries sustained by another driver could generate costly medical bills.
"If you have insurance, it's a bit like having someone to manage the whole situation for you," he continued.
"It can be less stressful than sorting it out on your own."
The RAC also offers breakdown cover in addition to motor insurance and car loans.
