'Major decisions made while in cars'
Posted :09-08-2007
Brits make some of their most important decisions while in a car, new research has found, which may be of interest to car insurance customers across the UK.
A survey by Kia Motors discovered that a range of topics are discussed during a journey, with a quarter of respondents saying they had ended a relationship in this situation and 64 per cent had discussed where to go on holiday.
A total of seven per cent said they had talked about getting divorced while in the seat of a car and 24 per cent mulled over the choice of a new pet.
Life coach Gladeana McMahon offered some insights into why a long journey is often the chosen place for important discussions.
"People simply don't have the time in their busy lives to give these important conversations the space and attention they need," she said.
"They need to grab the opportunities they have, which is why long car journeys or hours stuck in traffic jams can be the perfect place."
However, Kia Motors communications director Stephen Kitson said while it was important to make the most of time in a car, it should not get out of hand or distract the driver.
Kia Motors is a South Korean company which has expanded into Europe and the rest of the world.
