Consumers lose out on car insurance savings 'by not browsing'
Posted :22-08-2007
Motorists may not be benefiting from the best possible deal when it comes to car insurance by not taking the time to shop around, according to a leading provider.
Sainsbury's Car Insurance found that one in five consumers obtained a single car insurance quote last time they took out cover despite the fact that of motorists who have been with their present insurers for three or more years, 37 per cent reported increased premiums.
Lucy Hunter, Sainsbury's Car Insurance manager, commented that it may be tempting for customers to stick with their renewal quote or the first one quoted, but reiterated the importance of investigating the market thoroughly.
"In such a competitive market motorists hold the trump card and should take advantage by shopping around for the best deal, making sure they get quality cover whilst keeping premiums low."
A recent study by moneysupermarket.com revealed that the increase of hybrid cars in the UK has resulted in the introduction of competitively-priced environmentally-aware policies.
