Avoid speeding to retain bonuses, warns Tiscali
Posted :03-09-2007
Motorists wishing to retain their car insurance no-claims bonuses should avoid speeding, Tiscali has stated.
The telecommunications company has said that over the next year some 1.5 million motorists will accrue fines or points on their licenses for speeding following the results of a survey by yesinsurance.co.uk.
Involving some 4,000 British motorists, the research found that approximately 14 per cent of drivers seeking a car insurance quote have at least one conviction.
While a single fine may not significantly affect the premiums of more experienced drivers, a younger driver may see a rise of up to five per cent, according to Tiscali.
The website warns: "Get caught speeding this year and you will face a fixed fine, penalty points and ultimately an increase in your car insurance premium."
A recent study by insurancewide.com advised motorists to keep copies of their car insurance documents in their vehicles to avoid unnecessary agitation should they be stopped by the police.
