Car insurance policies 'should be checked' before attending Rugby World Cup
Posted :06-09-2007
Consumers planning on travelling to France to enjoy the Rugby World Cup should check their car insurance policies before travelling, according to the Association of British Insurers.
A spokesperson for the association said that while rugby fans may not be doing anything illegal by not informing their insurer, their policy may not cover them should they be a victim of theft or be involved in an accident and require repairs.
He noted that while some policies will automatically provide full motor insurance cover for a journey to France, others may only provide limited cover or require an extra premium to be paid for the road trip.
Further advice included that many insurance claims made by consumers will be invalidated if they stem from the intake of excessive amounts of alcohol while on holiday.
The first match of the Rugby World Cup pits England against the USA in Lens on September 8th.
