Sainsbury's Car Insurance highlights bad driving dangers

Some 68 per cent of drivers have admitted to engaging in some activity which was dangerous in the last month, according to new research by Sainsbury's Car Insurance.
The study indicated that drinking and eating while at the wheel was the most common form of dangerous driving habit - which could result in consumers having to make a costly claim on their motor insurance - as some 41 per cent of motorists admitting to doing it in July.
Other unsafe activities that were admitted to included driving while tired, while wearing flip flops or no shoes at all and speeding.
Some 14 per cent of motorists stated they broke the law by using a non hands-free mobile phone while driving and eight per cent texted from behind the wheel of their moving vehicle.
Recently published statistics by Sainsbury's Bank indicated that motor insurance premiums have risen by some £19.80 in the 12-month period ending July 2006.
