York car parks 'may result in decreased need for car insurance claims'
Posted :25-09-2007
Car parks in York have been named as some of the safest in the country, potentially allowing motorists to avoid the need to make an expensive claim on their car insurance, it has been reported.
Facilities to park vehicles run by the city of York council were this week awarded the Park Mark award - an accolade presented to the most secure places that motorists can leave their cars, reports the York Press.
Jane Mowat, director of Safer York Partnership, told the publication that steps had been taken to reduce vehicle crime in the city.
"Part of that work has entailed working with the council to ensure that its car parks meet the highest security standard criteria set through the national Park Mark scheme," she added.
A recent study by car insurance provider esure indicated that motorists in the UK beep their car horns some 30 billion times per year.
