Young drivers given chance to shine in car insurance driving scheme
Posted :27-09-2007
Young motorists are often considered to be the bane of other road users, but 18 to 25-year-olds in Exmouth are being given the chance to prove naysayers wrong and lower their car insurance premium at the same time, it has been reported.
Exmouth town council's Young Driver's Award - due to take place in early October - will allow younger road users to improve their knowledge of road safety as well as their driving skills as they are assessed by an advanced instructor and tested on road theory.
First prize is £1,000 off the annual motor insurance renewal premium, while runners up can acquire advanced driving courses, satellite navigation systems and car servicing discounts, according to the publication.
Another method that may result in decreased motor insurance premiums for younger drivers is participation in the Pass Plus scheme, which comprises a series of lessons to consolidate driving knowledge with no exam at the end, the course organisers assert.
