Careless drivers 'risk crying over spilt milk and car insurance claims'
Posted :05-10-2007
Clumsy driving on the part of British motorists may result in the need for a claim on car insurance as well as replacement groceries, new research has suggested.
A study by car manufacturer Chevrolet has indicated that UK consumers spend some £70 billion on groceries each year, but bad packing and shoddy driving results in some £350 million worth of such goods being damaged on the way home.
Shoppers from the north-east are the most likely to break items - as well as risk a car insurance claim - through clumsy driving as some 26 per cent of respondents admitted to damaging at least one item following their last trip to the shops.
Londoners were identified as the safest drivers as only five per cent reported a recent grocery-related incident.
It was recently stated by Experian that June's flooding had yet to have a significant impact on direct market motor insurance premiums.
