Kids 'bored after ten minutes in cars'
Posted :18-10-2007
Children grow bored after just ten minutes in a car it has been reported.
Restless children in a vehicle, whose actions may lead to the distraction of the vehicle driver and result in the need to make a costly car insurance claim, were the subject of a study by Privilege.
The research also suggested that the advent of mp3 players and portable games consoles may have signalled the end for more traditional in-car games such as I Spy or twenty questions.
Spokesperson for the car insurance provider Gill Murphy commented: "Bored kids and long car journeys are not a happy mix and with our research showing that a third of parents claim that the in-car antics of their children distract them from their driving."
Recent research commissioned by classified ads website Craigslist indicated that the habit that a co-passenger could engage in that most irritates people in vehicles is smoking, beating backseat-driving, nose-picking and wanting to listen to The Archers to the top spot.
