New Highway Code confusing drivers, says car insurance firm
Posted :22-10-2007
The latest edition of the Highway Code contains new road safety rules that many drivers are not aware of, according to car insurance provider Churchill.
A new study by the firm indicates that some 84 per cent of motorists are unaware that playing loud music in cars is against new regulations set out in the handbook.
Nearly four in ten (37 per cent) people are unaware that there are any changes to the guide at all, which may result in them accidentally breaking road laws and facing fines, higher car insurance premiums and prosecution.
Spokesperson for Churchill Car Insurance Abi Clark commented: "Drivers need to make sure that they know all the current rules of the Highway Code, otherwise they could find they are inadvertently breaking them."
It was recently reported by esure that some 45 per cent of drivers who smoke will disregard new road rules and continue to light up while behind the wheel.
