London 'worst for car insurance claims'

London has been identified as the location in the UK with the worst rate of car crime, which may result in the need for increased car insurance claims.

Research by insurance provider Admiral studied recent claim data and found that four districts in the capital were in the top ten list of motor crime hotspots for the past 18 months.

Hackney, Clapham, Leyton and Highbury ranked among the top ten areas where motorists may be most likely to have to make a car insurance claim.

Managing director of Admiral Sue Longthorn commented: "We expect car crime to be higher in inner city areas, but it's surprising to see that 40 per cent of the top ten are in one city, even if it is London."

"The sad fact is that people living in big cities are more likely to be victims of car crime."

It was recently reported by Churchill that the number of car insurance claims made following collisions increases by some 15 per cent following the end of British Summer Time.
