Careful and steady driving 'reduces car insurance claims'
Posted :05-11-2007
Motorists who drive steadily and carefully may have a reduced chance of having to make a car insurance claim.
Such is the opinion of insurer esure as part of its new poll into car use by UK motorists.
The study suggests that despite increasing petrol costs, some 55 per cent of UK road-users would never part with their car in favour of public transport.
Head of risk and underwriting at the firm Mike Pickard comments that cars are seen as a necessity that people are not willing to give up and offers advice to motorists to prevent cars from costing too much.
"Driving steadily and carefully, with no excessive braking or speeding, will not only give you more miles for your money, it could also reduce the likelihood of making a claim on your car insurance," he states.
It was recently noted by Privilege that children may contribute to the need to make car insurance claims as they grow bored on car journeys after just ten minutes and may distract the driver.
