Car insurance claims 'less likely for multiple car owners'
Posted :09-11-2007
Households with more than one car are less likely to have to make car insurance claims due to a crash.
Recent research by insurer Admiral has suggested that homes with two or more cars are almost a quarter (22 per cent) less likely than their single-car counterparts to be involved in a motoring accident.
Managing director of the firm Sue Longthorn explained that the vehicles driven by multiple car owners are worth an average of 27 per cent more than those who only have one automobile.
"Having spent more on their car, perhaps they drive more cautiously in order to protect their pride and joy. Multiple car drivers could also have more driving experience because they have access to a number of different cars," she added.
Research published by insurer esure in recent days suggested that November is the month that sees the highest number of car insurance claims made.
