Drivers' top moans noted
Posted :14-11-2007
Almost all (98 per cent) of British motorists are driven mad by at least one aspect of being a UK road user.
New research by Barclays Personal Loans suggests that the most irksome feature of driving is the increasing cost of fuel, with over a quarter of respondents citing it as their number one complaint.
"Other motorists" such as Sunday drivers, boy racers and those with tractors and caravans are second on the list.
Interestingly, younger road users are most irritated by elderly motorists and vice versa.
Traffic jams came in third, leaving other aspects of driving, such as car insurance, speed limits and fines much further down the list.
Gary Duggan, managing director of Barclays Personal Loans, comments that it is surprising that two per cent of British motorists have nothing to complain about.
"I can only assume they run their cars on biofuel and they live in the Outer Hebrides," he says.
Regarding road rage, recent figures from car insurance provider esure suggested that motorists honk their horns over 30 billion times a year.
