Brits risk car insurance claims through lack of headlights
Posted :26-11-2007
Over half (54 per cent) of British road users admit to having accidentally driven without headlights on at least one occasion in the last year, according to car insurance provider esure.
Research by the firm indicates that at least a million people have had a near miss, been forced to make a sudden manoeuvre or actually crashed because they forgot to turn their lights on.
Head of risk and underwriting at esure Mike Pickard comments: "As the nights become longer and darker, it is essential that motorists use their headlights properly while driving."
Mr Pickard adds that drivers need to be extra vigilant during the winter and notes that it can be easy to forget to turn lights on if consumers have been driving for a long period of time.
The firm recently noted that November is its busiest month in terms of the number of car insurance claims it receives.
