Car insurance claims 'more likely for August test-passers'
Posted :06-12-2007
Those consumers who pass their driving test during August are the most likely to have to make a car insurance claim, according to new research by Admiral.
A study by the firm indicates that more people pass their test during the month than at any other point in the year.
However, those who get their licence during the 31-day period are most at risk of having an accident, notes the company.
Sue Longthorn, managing director of Admiral, explains: "When we compared the statistics of when motorists passed their tests with the frequency of accidents those people had, we were surprised to see that there definitely was a pattern."
As such, she states that the best time to sit a test may be January, as a fairly high number of people pass their tests during the month and this is combined with a reasonably low number of accidents.
Meanwhile, car insurance provider NFU Mutual recently advised motorists to ensure they have adequate cover in the run-up to Christmas due to poor driving conditions.
