Car insurance customers warned of new year breakdowns
Posted :02-01-2008
Car insurance customers heading back to work after the festive season have been warned about the increased chance of breaking down.
According to Britannia, drivers are 63 per cent more likely to have vehicle problems and grind to a halt on January 2nd.
Andrew Beard, a spokesperson for the company, said there is greater chance of experiencing a breakdown due to a car being idle throughout Christmas, heavy traffic and winter weather conditions.
Britannia has therefore warned motorists to give their car a thorough once-over before taking to the roads this week and consider breakdown cover to minimise stress should an incident occur.
"Drivers should not only ensure their car undergoes its usual checks and services but they should also take it for a short spin at least once over the festive period," Mr Beard added.
Some car insurance policies offer optional breakdown cover, although it is possible to purchase it elsewhere.
