Snowy conditions 'cause car insurance claims'
Posted :04-01-2008
The cold snap has resulted in a number of accidents on roads in North Yorkshire, which may have led to motorists needing to make claims on their car insurance, it has been reported.
According to the York Press, despite the fact that the busiest highways were gritted as flakes began to fall yesterday, many motorists were involved in crashes as Yorkshire endured temperature below zero.
North Yorkshire police were called to some 25 collisions on roads during yesterday morning, queues formed and a number of roads were closed altogether.
The Met Office has predicted more snow for the region overnight, but milder conditions are expected over the next few days, the publication noted.
In related news, road users were recently warned by breakdown cover provider Britannia about the increased likelihood of breaking down as the colder weather and decreased use of cars over the festive period impacts on vehicles' performance.
