Partners 'can reduce car insurance costs'
Posted :08-01-2008
Car insurance consumers who are looking to lower the price they pay for their cover may be able to reduce costs by putting their partner on their policy, according to a provider.
Norwich Union states that if a consumer is married or has a partner then they may well be able to obtain lower premiums by putting their significant other on their insurance.
Erik Nelsen, a spokesperson for the car insurance provider, stated that although it may sound "counterintuitive" to do so, in the majority of cases it can actually help to lower costs.
He added that this should be the case, providing that the spouse or partner has a clean driver's licence.
A tyre safety alarm may also prove useful for consumers looking to avoid potential accidents and claims on a car insurance policy, according to road safety organisation TyreSafe.
Norwich Union is the largest insurance company in the UK.
