Car insurance advice for frosty conditions
Posted :08-01-2008
With cold weather across the nation, car insurance provider MORE TH>N has provided motorists with advice to make sure that they do not suffer a breakdown.
The firm notes that flat batteries are the main source of motoring nightmares, causing 32 per cent of vehicle failures, followed by engines that will turn over but not start up at 15 per cent.
Mike Holliday Williams, managing director for MORE TH>N, comments: "Often the combination of cold weather and leaving a car unused for a couple of days can be enough to cause problems."
He adds that road users should reduce their speed and drive with extra caution when the roads are bad, noting that in especially poor conditions motorists should not set off unless the journey is absolutely necessary.
In related news the Royal Bank of Scotland stated in recent days that January 2nd is the busiest day of the year with regard to breakdown callouts.
