Garages 'can reduce car insurance premiums'
Posted :09-01-2008
Consumers who have garages have been encouraged in recent days to make the most of such facilities to help reduce their car insurance premiums.
According to Norwich Union, people who keep their vehicles in the garages are likely to benefit from reduced costs.
Erik Nelsen, a spokesperson for the car insurance provider, comments: "If you have a garage, why not clean it out to keep your car in it?"
He explains that consumers who keep their vehicle somewhere more secure than, for example, on the roadside, may well benefit from reduced costs.
Concluding, Mr Nelsen states that if a household has two cars, they may well consider whether they need courtesy car cover, as if one car is taken away they may not require a courtesy vehicle from their provider.
Meanwhile, road safety charity TyreSafe explains that a tyre safety alarm may also provide a means to avoid accidents and costly car insurance claims.
