Car insurance dodgers 'will be caught'
Posted :14-01-2008
Those road users who do not obtain car insurance will not be able to avoid being caught, according to the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba).
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for Biba, stated earlier today that "continuous insurance enforcement" is now in effect.
As such, if consumers own a vehicle they will have to have appropriate insurance cover for it.
If motorists do not have any car insurance then they will receive a penalty notice, even if their vehicle is currently not on the road, Mr Trudgill explains.
He adds: "If the car is in your garage and you don't use it you have to get a statutory off-road notification."
Mr Trudgill concludes that road users cannot have lots of vehicles and not tell anybody what they are being used for.
According to the Motor Insurers' Bureau, uninsured drivers cost law-abiding motorists more than £500 million per year.
