Obscure car insurance claims identified
Posted :17-01-2008
AA Car Insurance has highlighted some of the strangest car insurance claims made by its consumers over the last 12 months.
They include a number of shopping trolleys falling from a forklift truck and on to a vehicle, a brush from a car wash coming loose and writing off a delivery lorry and a driver being so distracted by sneezing violently that he drove into a church wall.
Other incidents involved a bull breaking free of a field next to a country road and denting a car bonnet, a driver falling asleep at the wheel while parked at a causeway and finding it flooded when he woke up and a downpour of apples from a forklift truck.
"We're used to seeing the countless conventional claims for car damage but it's always interesting to hear the more bizarre claims people make. It just goes to show, you need to ensure you're covered for all eventualities, however far-fetched they might seem," said Janet Pell, head of AA Car Insurance.
According to the British Insurance Brokers' Association, the number of people driving without car insurance has dropped by at least ten per cent in the last two years.
