'More thinking needed' on green fuels
Posted :22-01-2008
There needs to be more collaborative thinking and coordination between the various parties involved in regulating and encouraging the uptake of environmentally-friendly fuels, it has been claimed.
Car insurance provider AA has insisted that the European Union (EU), as well national and regional authorities, ought to be doing more to clarify the ways in which green fuels are to become part of a drive to cut carbon emissions.
The assertions from the car insurance firm come ahead of an announcement by the EU of its latest Renewables Directive later this week.
"Many motorists are left confused by the 'green mist' generated by changing policies on alternative fuels and green vehicles," said Edmund King, president of AA.
"There needs to be more joined-up thinking at local, national and EU levels of government on alternative fuels," he added.
Last week, car insurance firm Admiral revealed that January 18th has been the most accident-prone day for British drivers over the past 15 years.
