Flood risk to caravans ? Motorcaravan insurance
Posted :30-09-2008
A warning has been issued to caravan owners urging them to be aware of the risks of flooding at the sites they plan to visit.
The Environment Agency is encouraging people to be prepared for flooding, in news that may be of interest to motorcaravan insurance holders.
With nearly half of the campsites in Gloucestershire, Worcester and Warwickshire at risk of flooding, those hoping to visit the area are being urged to plan ahead.
Emma Ferguson, regional flood awareness campaign coordinator for the Midlands, said caravan site owners should also be prepared for a deluge of rain.
"It is important to find out if your site is in a flood risk area and to know what actions to take to safeguard yourself, your visitors and your business in the event of flooding."
In 2007 several caravan sites suffered due to their position on a flood plain and on one site 70 caravans were surrounded by rising water.
Gloucestershire had to cope with two months of rainfall in 14 hours in July 2007, with 35,000 people and 7,500 businesses being left without water.
