Gold award for caravan site ? Motorhome insurance
Posted :01-10-2008
A caravan site and fishing lakes have been awarded a conservation award for the environmental work that takes place there, a source reports.
Heron's Mead Touring Park in Orby was awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award, holders of motorhome insurance may be interested to know, according to the Skegness Standard.
The site has been run by husband and wife team Simon Hayselden and Julie Boxall-Hayselden for four years and was awarded the silver award last year.
Mr Hayselden told the newspaper the advantage of a gold award is not financial, it is the prestige and doing things correctly for the environment.
"You have got to keep on top of woodland. Coppicing encourages the trees grow at varying levels which helps to get different types of birds in," he said.
The wildlife on the park includes kestrels, tawny owls, sparrow hawks, bluebells and snowdrops and the lakes contain 14 different species of fish.
David Bellamy Conservation Awards are given to holiday parks that show an active concern for the environment and help visitors to learn more about their surroundings.
