Out of season holidays 'popular' - Campervan insurance
Posted :03-10-2008
Getting away for a break in a caravan in the autumn and winter months is growing in popularity, according to the Caravan Club.
The group said caravanning becomes a lifestyle for many people and there is no reason why holidays should be restricted to the summertime.
Comparing a caravan break to a holiday abroad, the club says it can be cheaper to take several shorter trips in the UK rather than one long, expensive one.
A spokesperson said out of season holidays are hugely popular. The club recognises this with 71 sites open until the new year and 49 which are available all year round.
"When you have a package holiday it is over and done with. If you were to spend that money on a second-hand caravan you can have a holiday every Friday evening," the representative added.
The National Caravan Council recently revealed in its annual report that 2007 was a good year for sales with the number of leisure vehicles purchased in Britain reaching 69,000.
